Arcelor-Mittal, SCI JV on cards
Partners to hold 50% each in the JV which will be registered in India
Arcelor-Mittal produces 110 million tonnes of steel at 26 locations across the world.
It consumes around 175 to 180 million tonnes of iron ore annually, most of its sourced from Brazil.
It also requires huge quantities of coking coal – around 60 to 70 million tonnes at the rate of 0.6 tonne for every 1 tonne of steel produced.
The JV will help the company cut transportation costs of iron ore.
