  • Incremental Wage Output Ratio (IWOR)
    • We have all read about ICOR (Incremental Capital Output Ratio) sometime back in our blog. But what is this IWOR? What does it measure? How does it measure? Take a look.
    • It measures the output generating capacity of incremental wages. That is the amount of incremental wages that goes to generate one unit of incremental output.
    • The lower the IWOR, the higher the labour productivity and vice versa.
    • Statistically it is defined as: (wages and salaries – previous wages and salaries) / value of output. Here value of output is taken as net sales/income.
  • Synthetic financial instruments
    • These are financial instruments that are created artificially by simulating another instrument with the combined features of a collection of other assets. They are often custom-made hybrid instruments created by blending an underlying price on a cash instrument with the price of a derivative instrument. It is a combination of security holdings that mimics the price movement of another single security.
    • In the US, synthetics are more popular in collateralized debt obligations (CDO) – a structured debt product, market. They outnumber cash deals in this market as it is possible to avoid currency and interest rate risk of most based CDOs, though they pose other challenges for investors.
